Counseling Fee:  $165 per 55 minute session

(As a financial courtesy to clients, there are no additional fees for sessions with more than one client present, including couples or family counseling

Sliding scale fee for those in financial need is available (limited spaces).  At Kind Works Counseling, we believe in being kind to ourselves and others. If you  request and utilize one of the limited sliding scale fee spots stating you are in financial need, but you truthfully have the means to pay the regular rate, you may inadvertently limit access for those who truly need financial accommodations. Your thoughtful consideration helps ensure that those who need financial support to access mental health counseling during their difficult times have the opportunity to receive it.

Boundaries are kindness, and this includes respecting the financial needs of our community.  Please inquire directly with Keri prior to finalizing your first appointment on sliding scale fee options.

Cancellation Fee Policy:  Your scheduled appointment time is held just for you.  If you are unable to keep your appointment time, a 24 hour notice is required to prevent being charged the full session fee rate.  By notifying us at least 24 hours in advance, this also allows us to offer this appointment time to a client on the waiting list.

Counseling Session Rates

Adults:  55 minutes

Teens:  55 minutes

Session Length

Initially, therapy sessions are typically every week or every other week.  Depending on the client's specific situation, the number of total therapy sessions can vary.  We will work collaboratively with you during your session time to discuss next steps for your specific situation.

Session Frequency

Enacted January 1, 2022, The No Surprises Act established more in-depth protections for clients to help prevent unexpected medical costs.  This Act requires counselors to provide clients (including out-of-network and self-paying) with a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) on the cost of their therapy treatment.

To help ensure transparency with our clients, our fees are stated on our website, in informed consent paperwork, and discussed during the initial phone call.  Because the number of expected sessions for mental health therapy can differ between clients and any personal distressing events that may arise for our clients, providing an exact expected number of therapy sessions can be difficult.  However, this will be an on-going discussion within sessions with clients in which we will work to balance the recommended therapy sessions with client's financial needs and/or expectations.

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate:  You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of healthcare services, including counseling, that are of a non-emergency nature.  You have the right to ask your provider for a GFE before you schedule a service or anytime during treatment.  If you are charged $400 or more than your GFE stated, you are able to dispute the bill.

Why we
don't accept insurance

At Kind Works Counseling, our focus is on ensuring that your mental health care is guided by your needs and values, not by insurance companies. We believe that you should have full control over your therapeutic journey. While insurance can offer some benefits, it often does not fully reflect them (the insurance company) prioritizing what’s best for your well-being.

Protecting your privacy and confidentiality is a top priority for us. Therapy involves sharing deeply personal aspects of your life, and we want to create a safe and secure environment for that process. However, when insurance is involved, your privacy can be compromised, as insurance companies have the right to review your records. They might also reject claims or require extensive proof of the need for continued therapy, which can disrupt your care.

Additionally, insurance can limit your options in therapy by imposing restrictions on treatment approaches, session frequency, and session length. For example, there can be challenges in getting coverage for modalities like EMDR, especially if sessions extend beyond the typical 50-minute mark. In some cases, insurance companies may restrict sessions to 45 minutes, which can be insufficient for meeting the needs of many counseling clients. At Kind Works Counseling, we are dedicated to offering care that’s tailored to your needs, not limited by insurance policies.
